The Lebanese Surprised By Changing Positions Or Refraining Security Leaders

The repercussions of the "Syrian composition" in Lebanon were prompted in a dramatic manner. At least, this is what the statements and behaviors of Syria's fiercest allies in Lebanon indicate. When the Lebanese MP Nasser Kandil asks Syria to apologize to the supporters of Dr. Samir Geagea and General Michel Aoun because of harm that was inflicted on both leaders due to the erroneous policies that resulted in the imprisonment of the former and exile of the latter, every one know the magnitude of the ramification of this formula; especially that no one wrangle about Kandil's loyalty towards Syria. The fact is that Kandil was elected as an MP after the instructions came from Syria in order to squeeze his name along with other names in the Rafiq Al Hariri's list electoral list; this group of MPs Rafiq Al Hariri liked to call "Syrian consignment". Before Hariri was assassinated, he declared that he gave back this consignment and expelled Kandil and his colleagues from his parliamentary bloc.
However, this quick image is not reduced to Kadil's declarations, for the former minister Wiam Wahhab was a shining star on the road towards Anjar, and the Lebanese started to compare during the past few week Wahhab's loyalty towards Syria to that of his ally Nasser Kandil, as both men demanded that General Aoun should return to Lebanon and the legal charges against Aoun should be dropped. We are speaking here of the cases of utmost loyalty towards Syria, and before this identification there are tens of MPs and ministers who have transferred their loyalty or in the process of transferring it. This might be a hastening judgment for the about the Syrian influences in Lebanon, for the network of the Syrian presence goes beyond this circle, and this is also true; however what is currently happening gives the impression about the fragile republic that the Syrians established in Lebanon.
The Lebanese are surprisingly observing the quick shift of their official to the opposite blocs, and this matter is not only reduced to the Lebanese officials but also to all those lower ranking beneficiaries, and now you can observe all these employees and local prominent figures who regularly visited the Syrian and Lebanese intelligence are shifting their loyalty in order to replace it by another. This might be natural, however the Lebanese discrepancy is represented in the speed of this shift, as the Syrian have not completed their withdrawal yet and no one is saying that their influence in Lebanon has completed diminished. A high ranking employee who participated in the Pro-Syrian protest in Lebanon was seen at the Shiite opposition meeting. A lady that was a pro-Syrian activist sent messages to the Lebanese opposition that she intends to organize a party at Martyrs square along with youngsters from the Lebanese opposition.
This shift is transpiring smoothly at a time the Lebanese believed that this will be accompanied with violent turbulent events in their country. In a smooth manner and smooth decision, the statues of the late Syrian President Hafez Al Assad that were spread in most of the Lebanese cities were removed, and in a smooth manner the Lebanese are witnessing everyday how the leaders of the intelligence are placing themselves at the disposal of the government, and the Lebanese are observing how these leaders are apologizing to the minister of interior for surpassing his authority.
Lebanon has changed in a surprising manner in a period that does not exceed three months. This period is not enough in order for the Lebanese to feel compatible with change, and this is why the daily news that they are receiving seems to be fresh and not an extension of the near past. The repressed Lebanese forces party are now organizing rallies and gatherings and many Pro-Syrian and opposition leaders and attending these rallies and gatherings, and now the return of General Aoun has become an agreed upon alternative! What kind of change is this? Nasser Kandil is expressing his grievances towards the assassination of Rafiq Al Hariri and he supports the Hariri family's choice of selecting Saad Al Hariri to succeed his father, and the Lebanese should really check their ears in order to make sure that what they are hearing is correct
